We stock piston ring sets by AE part number, prefixed with the letter R - whether they are regular ring sets or re-ring sets (as the reference numbers are unique) and regardless of ring type composition. Regular rings sets contain the same or very similar types of rings to those fitted on the original piston, and should restore engine efficiency provided they are used in new or slightly worn bores. They can generally be fitted to either original or replacement pistons without modification to piston grooves. Re-ring sets are the first stage in engine reconditioning and are designed to cure excessive oil consumption where cylinder bore wear does not exceed 0.009”. Again, they can generally be fitted to original or replacement pistons without modification to the piston grooves. Where ring sets include chromium plated compression rings the part number is followed by a K suffix before the size suffix e.g. GBH PR AE R9762K/STD. Chromium plated rings must not be fitted in chromium plated bores. We stock a wide range of ring sets for petrol and diesel applications to suit standard and oversize bores. Ring sets are listed with information regarding the pistons that they fit, along with any accompanying notes e.g. Original (5 Ring Piston), GBH P H 16920 - where 16920 is the Hepolite piston reference number. The results of an application search will include all ring sets associated with a particular model – so please take note of which pistons the various ring sets fit and email if you require further details of ring set composition to confirm suitability with your piston. Where interchange information has been identified, you will also be offered Cords ring sets as an alternative. So for example if you search for Hillman MINX MK4, MINX MK5, MINX MK6, MINX MK7 1265cc 1950 to 1954, you will be offered available stock by size of rings sets R1850 for the original piston and piston number 10931, R1856 for the original piston only, R1857 for piston 10931 only and also Cords ring set number 16 which fits both pistons.
